The Substance of Desire

Two clusters of grapes, one ruby red and one brilliant green, graze each other in a triumph of light and transparency. But the real surprise lies at the center: a window opens within the canvas to house two clusters so vivid and three-dimensional that they confound the senses. It is a tight dialogue between the fiction of the painting and the tactile reality of the sculpture—a hall of mirrors that breaks the wall between what is observed and what is real.
