Remember when you were a kid and you would connect two toys that had absolutely nothing to do with each other, just to see what would happen? This painting is exactly that unlikely and delightfully irresponsible experiment. It’s a head-on collision between the ancient wisdom of slowness and the wild impulse of pure speed, tied together with a rope and a healthy dose of irony. There is something irresistibly forbidden and surreal about putting a jet engine on the back of someone who, by nature, has never been in a hurry. Life is just too short not to try and fly, even when you were born to walk one centimeter at a time.
